1. What is the company's stock symbol and exchange?

Our stock symbol is GTCB, which is traded on the NASDAQ National Market System.

2. What are the principal businesses of the company?

GTC Biotherapeutics produces human therapeutic proteins in the milk of transgenic animals. GTC is developing monoclonal antibodies, plasma proteins, and other novel proteins that may be potential treatments for a wide variety of human illnesses, such as autoimmune disorders and cancer.

3. How many people are employed by GTC Biotherapeutics?

As of December 30, 2007, GTC Biotherapeutics had approximately 167 employees.

4. Does the company have products currently on the market?

In August 2006, GTC's lead product ATryn® was approved for use in Europe for the prophylactic treatment of venous thromboembolism in hereditary antithrombin deficient patients undergoing surgical procedures. Currently, LEO Pharma A/S, ATryn®'s commercial and development partner in Europe, Canada, and the Middle East, has initiated the launch of this product in the approved indication in European countries.

LEO is also recruiting patients into a Phase II dose ranging study for the treatment of disseminated intravascular coagulation associated with severe sepsis. In the United States, GTC is conducting a Phase III study of ATryn® which was recently designated as a Fast Track Product by the FDA in the United States in hereditary antithrombin deficiency patients undergoing high risk surgical and childbirth procedures.

5. What products are under development?

GTC Biotherapeutics is developing transgenic versions of therapeutic proteins to treat unmet medical needs and chronic illnesses that are currently being produced in cell culture or extracted from human plasma, as well as novel proteins that cannot be produced using traditional methods. 6. How does GTC Biotherapeutics derive its revenue?

GTC Biotherapeutics contracts with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies to produce transgenic versions of drugs under development by these companies using our transgenic technology for which GTC would receive revenue, royalties, and possibly, marketing rights to the resulting product. GTC Biotherapeutics also has its own protein portfolio of drug candidates under development which are available for external corporate partnering. During the development of a program, GTC receives revenue from a partner based on completing project milestones.

8. What is the company's burn rate, and will its cash position sustain operations until profitability is reached?

The company's burn rate depends upon operating costs and expenses as well as the contract revenue and milestone payments received from its customers. Since the timing of revenue and milestone payments are dependent upon numerous factors, providing an estimated burn rate is difficult and is updated during GTC's quarterly conference call with financial analysts. 9. When does the company's fiscal year end?

For 2007, the fiscal year ended December 30, 2007.

10. When will quarterly financial results be available?

The financial results will typically be released approximately 5 weeks after the end of a quarter. The specific date will be announced about one week ahead of the distribution of the press release describing the results. This press release is usually distributed before the market opens and a conference call is held later that same day, generally at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time.

11. Can stock be purchased directly from the company?

No, the company does not have a direct stock purchase plan.

12. Does GTC Biotherapeutics pay dividends or have a dividend reinvestment plan?

GTC Biotherapeutics has never paid a cash dividend on its common stock, and currently expects that future earnings will be retained for use in its business.

14. What is the relationship between GTC Biotherapeutics and Genzyme Corporation?

GTC Biotherapeutics is a stand-alone public company traded on the Nasdaq National Market System. In July 1993, Genzyme Transgenics was organized as a separate business, distinct from Genzyme Corporation, in order to fully realize the potential value of producing therapeutic proteins in the milk of transgenic animals. On June 3, 2002, Genzyme Transgenics became GTC Biotherapeutics in order to bring clarity to its identity and independence while highlighting the familiar initials by which it was already known.

15. Is GTC Biotherapeutics a tracking stock of Genzyme Corporation?

No, GTC Biotherapeutics is not a tracking stock of Genzyme Corporation, but is a separate corporation, with a separate board of directors. The assets of GTC Biotherapeutics are held by its shareholders, and the Company has separate and distinct business goals and objectives from that of Genzyme Corporation.
